Hey everyone! Thank god for Spring Break, because I finally have time to write a post that isn’t a wrap-up! My birthday was this month, and I got a lot of print books as gifts, so I figured I’d post a book haul! Lets get started!

Monthly Wrap-Up: February 2017

Hey Everyone! Once again, I must apologize for the long hiatus. I have one heck of a workload this semester and it has consumed all the time I have for non-school related writing. And pretty much non-school related reading too to be honest. Hence my monthly wrap-up for February being posted in the middle of March. Anyway, I was able to read three books for fun this month, as well as three (technically five) books for my classes, so let’s get started!

Book Talk- Gemina by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff

I don’t know if I’ve ever talked about the Illuminae files series on this blog before, but I think I should start by saying I absolutely loved the first book in the series. The characters are really easy to get attached to, the plot was crazy intense, and the format has to be one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. So when the second book, Gemina came out I was super hyped to read it. And now that I’ve read the book I think I liked it even more than the original! I was literally so invested that it got to a point that it was about 2:00 in the morning and I could not stop reading. That’s how amazing this book was.

December Book Challenge!: Day 31

Day 31: Favorite Reads of 2016!:

Happy New Year’s Eve! Seeing as it is officially the last day of 2o16 I figured I’d combine my favorite books of the year post with the last day of the December book challenge! I read so many amazing books this year, so let’s get started!

Cinder 001The Lunar Chronicles Series by Marissa Meyer:

I cannot believe it took me until this year to finally read this series! The characters are some of the best I’ve ever read, it was so easy to get into the story, and the writing was amazing! As of this year, this is definitely one of my all time favorite series!

23395680Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff:

Just the formatting of this book makes it super unique, but the story had to be one of the most intense and intriguing I have ever read!

24795912Worlds of Ink and Shadow by Lena Coakley:

This book has to have some of the most unique fantasy  elements I’ve ever seen, and as an English major it was really cool to see a fictionalized version of the Brontes!

23437156The Six of Crows series by Leigh Bardugo:

This series isn’t just one of my favorites of the year, but of all time. Literally everything about these two books is incredible (ESPECIALLY all six of the main characters). If you haven’t read this series yet, I highly recommend you do so!

25494343Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare:

I’m always trash for Shadowhunters, and I can’t wait to read the rest of the Dark Artifices series (especially since I loved the characters!)

26365537Kindred Spirits by Rainbow Rowell:

This may have only been a short novella, but it was definitely one of the most fun and entertainingly written books I read this year!

22840421My Lady Jane by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows:

This has to be one of the most fun books I read this year, and the writing style was absolutely hilarious!

17675462The Raven Cycle series by Maggie Stiefvater:

Help, I have completely fallen in love with the characters, world, and writing style of this series!

23299512This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab:

Literally everything about this book (especially the writing, premise, and characters) is amazing, and I need the sequel as soon as possible!

The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson:

I think I just have a thing for Morgan Matson’s writing style, and everything about this story (especially the main romance) was super endearing!

28260587Empire of Storms by Sarah J. Maas:

I swear the Throne of Glass series only gets better with each book

28220892Vassa in the Night by Sarah Porter:

THE WRITING! Also, this has to be one of the weirdest books I have ever read, but also one of my all time favorite fantasies!

As of this book, Magnus Chase is officially my favorite Rick Roridan series after the original Percy Jackson books! Plus the entire series is super diverse, and that’s great, especially for a series that is technically middle grade!

Well that’s about it for my favorite books of 2016! Thanks for reading and happy 2017!
